Kentucky Derby media poll

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Selected media picks and comments from Churchill Downs:

Hank Goldberg, ESPN - California Chrome. "He's the best horse. He's been the most consistent."

Jay Privman, Daily Racing Form - California Chrome. "He's won four straight races. My top pick - Hoppertunity - was scratched."

Beth Harris, Associated Press - Wicked Strong. "He's looked good in his workouts; only question is whether he can overcome far outside post, which has produced few winners. Good backstory too, with trainer Jimmy Jerkens and colt being named in honor of Boston Marathon bombing victims.

Dick Jerardi, Philadelphia Daily News - California Chrome. In a year that there's not been a lot of consistency, he's been really good. Winning by big margins. Easily beating horses that are accomplished."

Ed McNamara, Newsday - Intense Holiday. "He's working well and he's one of the better closers."

Tom Pedulla, Americas Best Racing - California Chrome. "Great story. I would love racing to have that story. It's an emotional selection."

Bill Dwyre, Los Angeles Times - California Chrome. "After you see him get to the top of the stretch and say goodbye, you have to believe that this is something special. Now, anything can happen over the course of five weeks, but this is a Triple Crown threat."

Gary Mihoces, USA Today - Danza. "That's my best guess. I like Tony Danza. He was a high school wrestler and I'm a big fan of amateur sports."
