Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves have agreed to terms with third baseman Chris Johnson on a three-year extension.
The contract runs through the 2017 season and includes an option for the 2018 campaign. The deal is reportedly worth $23.5 million with a $10 million team option.
After the 2012 season, Johnson was acquired by Atlanta from Arizona along with outfielder Justin Upton.
Johnson went on to hit .321 with 34 doubles, 12 homers and 68 RBI in 142 games last year with the Braves.
The 29-year-old Johnson is batting .255 with six doubles, one homer and four RBI in 26 games so far this season.
In 516 career games with the Astros, Diamondbacks and Braves, Johnson has a .287 batting average with 111 doubles, 46 homers and 243 RBI.
