Pirates place P Rodriguez on DL

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates placed pitcher Wandy Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list Monday with right knee inflammation.

Rodriguez last pitched on Saturday when he was tagged for four runs on six hits over four frames in an eventual 8-7 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 35-year-old left-hander has surrendered a league-high seven home runs while going 0-2 with an inflated 7.65 earned run average over four starts this season.

Pittsburgh recalled pitcher Jared Hughes from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the vacated roster spot.

Hughes hasn't allowed a run over five relief appearances at Indianapolis this season, going 1-0 with three saves and seven strikeouts over six innings of work.
