Brewers put Overbay on paternity list

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Lyle Overbay will miss Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after leaving the team to attend the birth of his child.

The Brewers placed Overbay on the paternity list, recalling utilityman Elian Herrera from Triple-A Nashville to take the veteran's place on the active roster.

Overbay, who has gone just 2-for-20 on the season, is expected to rejoin the Brewers for Sunday's finale of the four-game series.

Herrera played in 71 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers over the previous two seasons, batting .251 with one home run, 17 RBI and four stolen bases over that span.
