Newcastle's Remy to miss Stoke City clash

Newcastle, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Newcastle United forward Loic Remy will miss the club's match against Stoke City on Saturday due to a lingering calf injury, Magpies manager Alan Pardew confirmed on Thursday.

Remy, who is on loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers, is the team's leading scorer with 13 goals, but has missed the last five games.

Pardew hoped to have the French international back in the fold as the Magpies look to put an end to a three-match losing streak in league play in which they have been outscored 11-0.

But the manager conceded that Remy is more likely to return next weekend.

"Remy won't make this game, but we'd like to think he'll make the next one," said Pardew.

Following the Stoke City clash, Newcastle will return home to host Swansea City at St. James' Park. The club currently sits in ninth place in the Premiership with 46 points and five games to play.
