The Pistons are a disappointing 28-49 this season and Dumars saw his head coach Maurice Cheeks fired by owner Tom Gores just 50 games into the season.

Dumars took over as Pistons GM in 2000 and built a team that won the NBA title in 2004 and advanced to the NBA Finals the next season.

However, this will mark the Pistons' fifth straight season missing the playoffs.
