SKC's Zusi earns MLS Player of the Week honor

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Sporting Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 5 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

In Sporting Kansas Citys 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rapids Saturday at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, Zusi played a part in all three goals, scoring one and assisting on two, including the stoppage time winner.

Zusi scored the games first goal in the 50th minute. Sporting Kansas City midfielder Paulo Nagamura played a ball down the right side to forward Sal Zizzo who beat Colorado defender Marc Burch and crossed the ball in front of the goal to Zusi for an easy finish.

With Kansas City trailing 2-1 in the 79th minute, Zusi beat his defender down the left flank and perfectly placed a deep cross to Zizzo who headed the ball to midfielder Benny Feilhaber inside the six-yard box to level the score.

Zusi then fired one past Rapids goalkeeper John Berner in stoppage time hand Sporting its second win of the season.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
