Viera, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals bolstered their bench on Wednesday with the signing of infielder/outfielder Kevin Frandsen.
In 2013, Frandsen hit .234 with five homers and 26 RBI in 119 games with the Phillies.
Philadelphia had sent him outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, but the Bay Area native opted for free agency instead of staying in the minors.
Frandsen is a career .259 hitter with 49 doubles, 14 home runs and 93 RBI in 402 big league contests spanning seven seasons with the Giants, Angels and Phillies.
