Jeff Larentowicz and Dax MacCarty traded first-half goals on Sunday as Red Bull New York and the Chicago Fire played to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Park.

Both teams entered Sunday's clash looking for their first win in league play and the hosts took the lead six minutes into proceedings when rookie Harrison Shipp delivered an inch-perfect corner kick that was nodded into the roof of the net by Larentowicz.

But New York grabbed the equalizer in the 21st minute on a set piece as a corner kick dropped into the box untouched and it fell to McCarty, who ripped it past Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Chicago had the best chance to break the deadlock just moments into the second half when Quincy Amarikwa ripped a strike on target that forced New York goalkeeper Luis Robles to make a terrific diving save.

Both clubs improve to two points from their first three matches of the young season, but remain winless in the early going.
