Rangers' Profar out 10-to-12 weeks

Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers announced Sunday that infielder Jurickson Profar will miss 10-to-12 weeks after an MRI revealed a torn muscle in his right shoulder.

The injury will not require surgery, but it will leave the 21-year-old native of Curacao unavailable for at least the first two months of the season.

Profar was expected to replace Ian Kinsler as the Rangers' full-time second baseman after the three-time All-Star Kinsler was shipped to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for first baseman Prince Fielder on Nov. 20.

Profar batted .234 with six homers and 26 RBI in 85 games with Texas last season after making his MLB debut with the team in 2012. He started 29 games at second base, 16 at shortstop, 10 at third base and four in left field.
