NY Mets clobber Minnesota

Taylor Teagarden capped a seven-run first inning with a two-run homer off Minnesota starter Ricky Nolasco and the New York Mets rode the early outburst to a 9-1 Grapefruit League win over the Twins.

Taylor Teagarden capped a seven-run first inning with a two-run homer off Minnesota starter Ricky Nolasco and the New York Mets rode the early outburst to a 9-1 Grapefruit League win over the Twins.

Ike Davis begin the barrage with a two-run double and scored on Andrew Brown's double. Zach Lutz hit an RBI single and scored on Kirk Nieuwenhuis' triple before Teagarden homered to left field.

Nolasco did keep the Mets off the board in his two final innings of work.

New York starter Dillon Gee gave up a run on five hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Lucas Duda belted a two-run shot in the fourth for the Mets.
