Cotchery spent the past three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers after playing his first seven years with the New York Jets. He had 46 catches for 602 yards with a career-high 10 touchdowns last season.

The 31-year-old North Carolina State product has 437 catches for 5,558 yards and 30 touchdowns in his career.

Cotchery will help fill a major void at receiver for the Panthers, who released Steve Smith last week and lost Ted Ginn and Brandon LaFell to free agency.
