(SportsNetwork.com) - Malcolm Brogdon said the Virginia Cavaliers had only a small window to relish the program's first ACC Tournament title in 38 years.
"We're going to try to enjoy this tonight," he said, "but move on tomorrow and get back to work."
The Cavaliers will return to practice as a newly-named No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament after Brogdon scored 23 points to lead them in a 72-63 victory over Duke on Sunday in Greensboro, N.C..
Virginia's first ACC Tournament crown since 1976 earned it the last No. 1 seed in the NCAAs -- the one observers speculated over with Florida, Arizona and Wichita State all but guaranteed top slots.
The Cavaliers (28-6) -- armed with their fourth-ever No. 1 seed in what will be their 18th NCAA Tournament appearance -- will face No. 16 seed Coastal Carolina on Friday in Raleigh, N.C.
The winner of that game with face either No. 8 Memphis (23-9) or No. 9 George Washington (24-8) in the East Region's Round of 32.
Villanova, despite being bounced by Seton Hall in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament, earned the No. 2 seed in the region. The Wildcats (28-4) will face Horizon League champion Milwaukee (21-13).
In an interesting shuffle of the cards, Villanova could see a familiar foe in the next round if it gets past the Panthers.
Atlantic 10 Tournament champion Saint Joseph's (24-9) sits above Villanova in the bracket as a No. 10 seed with a game against No. 7 Connecticut (26-8).
The campuses of Villanova and Saint Joe's, who play in the Philadelphia area's Big 5, are separated by seven miles and the teams play an annual series known as the Holy War.
Villanova beat Saint Joe's by 30 points in this season's meeting on Dec. 7.
Iowa State (26-7) earned a No. 3 seed after winning the Big 12 Tournament for the first time in 14 years and will face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion N.C. Central (28-5).
Big Ten Tournament winner Michigan State (26-8) could be a dangerous No. 4 if it gets past Delaware (25-9), the Colonial Athletic Association champion.
No. 5 Cincinnati (27-6) -- which won the No. 1 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament in a coin flip over eventual champion Louisville but lost to UConn in the semifinals -- drew Ivy League champion Harvard (26-4).
No. 6 North Carolina (23-9) -- after a roller-coaster regular season -- will play No. 11 Providence (23-11), which earned an automatic bid after beating Creighton in the Big East Tournament final and No. 8 Memphis (23-9) and No. 8 George Washington (24-8) will also face off.
