Tigers flatten Nationals in preseason action

Torii Hunter collected four hits and two RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Washington Nationals, 12-6, on Friday.

Nick Castellanos had three hits and drove in two runs, while Victor Martinez and Austin Jackson also brought in two runners for the Tigers, who strafed Washington pitchers for 22 hits.

Starter Rick Porcello surrendered five runs on seven hits in four-plus innings, but still earned the win.

Tyler Moore and Scott Hairston homered for the Nationals. Taylor Jordan was tagged for four runs on seven hits over three innings.
