Cardinals shut out Braves 11-0

Xavier Scruggs highlighted a seven-run sixth inning with a three-run double as the St. Louis Cardinals shut out the Atlanta Braves, 11-0, in Grapefruit League action.

Xavier Scruggs highlighted a seven-run sixth inning with a three-run double as the St. Louis Cardinals shut out the Atlanta Braves, 11-0, in Grapefruit League action.

The Cardinals were already ahead 4-0 when they turned the game into a rout with the sixth-inning outburst.

Matt Carpenter had two hits and an RBI, while Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina and Jhonny Peralta each doubled in a run.

St. Louis starter Lance Lynn recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed only one hit in four innings.

Freddy Garcia threw the first four innings for Atlanta and gave up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits and a walk.

The Braves had only three hits and committed three errors.
