T.J. Ward signed by Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos signed former Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward on Tuesday night.

Broncos General Manager John Elway announced the move on Twitter.

Excited to announce we've agreed to terms with strong safety T.J. Ward. He'll bring energy and toughness to our secondary.

The four-year deal with the 27-year-old second-round draft pick is worth $23 million with $14 million guaranteed.

There has been some concern about whether Ward, who is 5-foot-10 and weighs 200 pounds, can physically meet the demands of the hard-hitting game. The Broncos said their goal in the off-season was to get more physical on defense after their embarrassing 43-8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the SuperBowl.
