Astros power past Nationals with walk-off

George Springer singled in Marwin Gonzalez with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, capping a three-run frame and giving Houston a thrilling 10-9 victory over Washington in Grapefruit League action.

Kissimmee, Fla. -- George Springer singled in Marwin Gonzalez with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, capping a three-run frame and giving Houston a thrilling 10-9 victory over Washington in Grapefruit League action.

Down 9-7 with three outs to go, Delino DeShields knocked in Adron Chambers with a single through the hole, then Gonzalez doubled him home before the winning hit from Springer.

Jason Castro hit a two-run shot and drove in three; Gonzalez finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Jonathan Villar contributing an RBI for the Astros.

Raul Valdes picked up the win thanks to a scoreless top of the ninth.

Xavier Cedeno allowed four runs and three hits while recording only two outs.

Nate McLouth hit a two-run shot, Will Rhymes added three hits and two RBI and Mike Fontenot clocked in with three RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Nationals.
