Pardew receives seven-match ban

Newcastle, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been banned for seven matches and fined by the Football Association for headbutting Hull City midfielder David Meyler.

Pardew was sent to the stands during Newcastle's 4-1 win at the KC Stadium on March 1 after forcing his head in Meyler's direction.

Newcastle fined Pardew approximately $166,000 and issued a formal warning, but the FA followed suit by banning him from the stadium in which the Magpies playing for their next three matches and then from the touchline for a further four games. The sanction is subject to appeal, the FA said in a statement.
