Jets, Stuart agree to 4-year deal

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms with defenseman Mark Stuart on a four-year contract worth $10.5 million for the duration.

The news broke just after Wednesday's trade deadline passed.

Stuart, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, has skated in 50 games and posted two goals, nine points and 81 penalty minutes. In addition, the 29-year-old leads the club in hits (163) and blocked shots (118).

A first-round choice of the Bruins in 2003, Stuart is a veteran of 478 NHL contests with Boston and the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise. He's totaled 68 points (21G, 47A) over nine seasons.
