Rory McIlroy grabs first-round lead at Honda Classic

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Former World No. 1 Rory McIlroy took the opening-round lead of the Honda Classic Thursday with a round of 7-under 63, one better than Russell Henley.

McIlroy got off to a good start in his quest for his first PGA Tour win since the 2012 PGA Championship.

Henley carded a 6-under 64 at PGA National Resort & Spa.

Jamie Donaldson, Rory Sabbatini and William McGirt, shared third place one shot further back.

Tommy Gainey, Brice Garnett, Matt Every, Brandon de Jonge and Derek Ernst were tied for sixth with rounds of 4-under 66.
