MOSCOW, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Russian freestyle skier Maria Komissarova, who broke her back at the Winter Olympics, indicated Wednesday she has no feeling below her navel.

Komissarova, 23, revealed the news on her Instagram account 11 days after undergoing surgery to repair a fracture and dislocation of her T12 vertebra, in which the skier received a metal implant.

She sustained the injury during a training crash as she prepared for the women's skicross event in Sochi, Russia.

"I do not feel the body below the navel," Komissarova wrote. "But I'm strong and I know that someday I just stand on legs!"

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited her in the hospital shortly after the crash.
