Brazilians Bellucci, Dutra Silva log upsets in Sao Paulo

SAO PAULO, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Brazilian wild cards Thomaz Bellucci and Rogerio Dutra Silva each logged an upset of a seeded opponent Tuesday, highlighting Day 2 play at the Brasil Open.

Bellucci surprised No. 6 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Colombia 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the second round, where he'll face Austria's Andreas Haider-Maurer, a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 winner over Germany's Julian Reister.

Dutra Silva, meanwhile, knocked off Spanish eighth seed Santiago Giraldo 1-6, 7-5, 6-3. He will next face Italy's Paolo Lorenzi, who got past Spanish qualifier Pere Riba 7-5, 6-3.

Also notching first-round wins Tuesday were Italy's Potito Starace, Spain's Albert Ramos and Albert Montanes, Slovakia's Martin Klizan and Argentina's Federico Delbonis.
