Tebow may return to Denver in new football league, report says

DENVER, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A new summer professional football league has offered a contract to former Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, a league official said.

The A-11 Football League -- planning to begin play with two exhibition games in 2014 and a 14-game schedule beginning in July 2015 -- has six teams and an ESPN television contract. Denver will likely be one of two other cities awarded a franchise, the Denver Post reported Monday.

"We would love to have Tim Tebow join our league. We have talked with his lawyer and his agent, and we have made an offer, said A-11FL commissioner Scott McKibben.

McKibben said the league has formed teams in Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay area, New Jersey and Tampa, Fla., and expects Denver and Detroit to join.

Tebow -- a 2007 Heisman Trophy winner who also played for the New York Jets -- is currently a college football analyst on ESPN's SEC Network. His position would not interfere with playing in the new league, the Post said.
