"Under Wash's guidance and tutelage, the Rangers have enjoyed their greatest successes in franchise history," Daniels said. "I look forward to working with him to build on that success in 2014 and beyond."

Washington is the all-time winningest manager in Rangers history with 611 regular-season victories over eight years, and has guided Texas to 90 or more wins over four straight seasons.

Texas has finished first or second in the American League West a club-record six consecutive times with post-season appearances in three straight seasons (2010-12).

The Rangers reached the World Series in both 2010 and 2011.
