SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Darya Domracheva of Belarus won the Olympic gold medal Monday in the women's biathlon 12.5-kilometer mass start race.

She became the first competitor at the Sochi Games to win three individual gold medals. Until these Olympics athletes from Belarus had won only one Winter Olympics gold medal.

The silver went to Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic, who finished 20.2 seconds behind the winner. The bronze was won by Tiril Eckhoff of Norway in a close battle with Germany's Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle.
