DOHA, Qatar, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Seventh-seeded Simona Halep corralled her seventh career title Sunday, downing Angelique Kerber in the final of the Qatar Open tennis event.
The 22-year-old Romanian dispatched her sixth-seeded German opponent 6-2, 6-3, in a 66-minute affair at Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

Halep recorded four breaks against Kerber while saving all four of her own break points in improving to 7-3 all-time in finals.
The 26-year-old German, meanwhile, fell to 3-7 in title matches, including a loss to Tsvetana Pironkova last month in Sydney.
