Analyst Shannon Sharpe urges banishment of Incognito

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Television football analyst Shannon Sharpe said the NFL should take a hard line against the reputed abusive culture in the Miami Dolphins locker room.

Sharpe told USA Today that lineman Richie Incognito should be kicked out of the league for racially tinged and uncalled for treatment of rookie Jonathan Martin.

The league this week released its investigation into the allegations and concluded Incognito and other players led a crude culture that Sharpe said had to be addressed by Commissioner Roger Goodell.

"I think the commissioner needs to and will send the strongest of messages to let everyone know that this will not be tolerated," said Sharpe, who added that Incognito has developed an unsavory reputation in his college and pro career and "should find another line of work."

Sharpe, a former NFL player, said Goodell had acted decisively regarding the scandal in New Orleans, in which Saints' defensive players collected cash rewards for knocking opposing players out of games.

"The one thing I know about this commissioner: He's firm, but he's fair," Sharpe said. "He will send the strongest of messages that this is unacceptable behavior."
