Dustin Johnson has lead as Northern Trust Open suspended by darkness

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Dustin Johnson carded a 5-under 66-par Thursday and held the lead of the Northern Trust Open when first-round play was suspended due to darkness.

Johnson, seeking his ninth career PGA Tour victory, birdied the final two holes to grab the lead.

Charlie Beljan, who finished second at the event last year, was among a group of nine players who finished their rounds at Riviera Country Club knotted for second place at 4-under 67.

Joining him were Robert Garrigus, Charley Hoffman, Jimmy Walker, Francesco Molinari, Matt Jones, Brian Harman, Blake Adams, Scott Stallings and Sang-Moon Bae.

J.B. Holmes also stood at minus-4 after completing 16 holes.

Sharing second place among those finishing their rounds at 3-under were Keegan Bradley, Jim Furyk, Brendan Steele, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Tringale.

Pat Perez also stood at 3-under after 17 holes.

Fifteen players will wrap up their first rounds beginning at 10:30 a.m. EST.
