Domestic abuse charges against former Thunder guard Liggins dropped

OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Felony domestic abuse charges against former Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins have been dropped, Oklahoma County, Okla., prosecutors said.

All seven counts against Liggins were dismissed Wednesday, the (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported Thursday.

Liggins, 25, was charged Sept. 6 with seven counts that included domestic abuse, kidnapping and domestic assault and battery in an Aug. 31 incident involving former girlfriend Jasmine Horton at their Oklahoma City home.

Liggins was released from the Thunder the day he was charged.

District Attorney David Prater said Horton has left the state and refuses to tell prosecutors where she is. He said the allege3d victim changed parts of her story and denied others, unraveling the case against Liggins.

Prater said the case will be refiled as a misdemeanor assault and battery charge against Liggins.

Liggins was accused of punching, kicking and throwing objects at Horton. A co-defendant, Marcus Rogers, 24, was accused to returning Horton to the home after she escaped twice, and photographing the alleged assault with a cellphone camera, court affidavits said.

Rogers' two kidnapping charges were also dropped Wednesday.
