Dodgers, closer Kenley Jansen avoid arbitration with 1-year deal

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Closer Kenley Jansen and the Los Angeles Dodgers have avoided arbitration with a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Terms of the deal weren't announced but CBSSports.com reported Jansen, 23, will earn $4.3 million in 2014.

The right-handed fireballer is coming off a breakout season for the National League West champions, notching a career-best 28 saves with a 1.88 ERA over 75 appearances in 2013.

Jansen logged 111 strikeouts over 76 2/3 innings.

The reliever has compiled a 12-7 record with a 2.10 ERA and 62 saves over 216 career games with the Dodgers.
