SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Twin brothers Michel and Ronald Mulder won Olympic gold and bronze medals Monday and led a sweep for the Netherlands in the 500-meter speed skating race.

Jan Smeekens of the Netherlands took the silver, finishing .01 of a second behind Michel Mulder when the times from the two 500-meter heats were put together.

It is the second medal sweep for the Netherlands during the speed skating events at the 2014 Olympics. Skaters from that country also won all three medals in the men's 5,000-meter race on Saturday.
