NHL: Edmonton 3, Buffalo 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Matt Hendricks put Edmonton ahead with a short-handed goal in the third period Monday and the Oilers went on to post a 3-2 victory over Buffalo.

With the Oilers a man down 57 seconds into the final period, Boyd Gordon found Hendricks with a pass, and the Edmonton center put a wrist shot past Jhonas Enroth for the key score.

Justin Schultz and Jeff Petry also scored as the Oilers picked up a fourth win in five games.

Ilya Bryzgalov earned the decision with 42 saves.

Drew Stafford and Steve Ott each scored for the Sabres, losers of seven straight at home.

Enroth finished with 25 stops.
