Pittsburgh won for the fourth time in five games and increased the largest point total in the Eastern Conference to 78. The Pittsburgh lead over the second-place New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division grew to 17 points.

The Penguins gained a two-man advantage with 9:55 to go in the first period when both Jarret Stoll and Dustin Brown were sent to the penalty box -- Stoll for hooking and Brown for slashing.

Knuitz and Jokinen took advantage of those penalties to break open a 1-1 tie. The only goal after that came from Tanner Glass in the second period.

Pittsburgh's first three goals came on seven shots against Jonathan Quick, driving him from the net. Martin Jones then gave up a goal on 15 shots.
