NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- A prostitution organization in New York that was trying to make big money off Super Bowl fans was busted Thursday, the New York Post reported.
The Post, citing law enforcement sources, said 18 people were arrested early Thursday and processed at a police station in Manhattan's Lower East Side neighborhood.
"The ring has become much more active in the last two weeks, specifically seeking to capitalize on the excitement around the Super Bowl," a source told the Post. "Not only did they cater to New Yorkers, but they also targeted those coming into NYC from out of town by sending text messages to prospective clients."
The prostitutes allegedly offered clients "party packs" where drugs were part of the deal. The charges include conspiracy, drug trafficking, promoting prostitution and money laundering.
