Titans' Johnson to have knee surgery

NASHVILLE, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson said the knee surgery he'll have Tuesday is "nothing major" and he played with the injury most of the season.

Johnson told the (Nashville) Tennessean he played with a partially torn meniscus after injuring himself early in the season.

"It's nothing major," Johnson said via text. "People don't know I been playing with it since week 3 of the season."

He ran for 1,077 yards and six touchdowns in 2013. The Titans' former first-round draft pick in 2008 is scheduled to make $8 million next season and has said he will not take a pay cut to remain with the team, prompting wide speculation he will be released and hit the free agent market this offseason.
