MONTREAL, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Braden Holtby had a shutout and Alex Ovechkin had a goal and an assist Saturday to help the Washington Capitals beat Montreal 5-0 and snap a seven-game skid.
Holtby turned aside all 21 shots he faced for the Capitals, who ended their longest losing streak since Dec. 2-18, 2010.

John Erskine, Casey Wellman, John Carlson and Jay Beagle also scored for Washington.
Carey Price stopped 22-of-26 shots before being pulled midway through the second period in the Canadiens' fourth straight loss.
Peter Budaj entered allowed one goal on eight shots the rest of the way.
