NHL: Dallas 7, Toronto 1

DALLAS, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Valeri Nichushkin ignited a four-goal second period Thursday that propelled Dallas to a 7-1 rout of Toronto.

The Stars have won two in a row, scoring 11 goals in the process, after having just one victory in 10 outings.

Dallas already had a 2-1 lead heading into the second period, then came up with goals from Nichushkin, Shawn Horcoff, Rich Peverley and Trevor Daley.

That made things easy for Kari Lehtonen, who with 24 saves picked up the 200th win of his career.

Nichushkin was the only Dallas player with two goals. He also picked up the final score of the game in the third period.

Toronto had won six in a row before suffering its worst loss to Dallas since the Stars moved to Texas from Minnesota.

Jonathan Bernier gave up three goals on 13 shots before being replaced by James Reimer. Dallas scored four times against Reimer on 15 shots.
