LA QUINTA, Calif., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Patrick Reed fired a third straight 9-under-par 63 Saturday, extending his lead to seven strokes after three rounds of the Humana Challenge.
The stellar round gave Reed a total of 27-under 189 -- the best-ever 54-hole mark in PGA Tour history.
Reed, who played Saturday's round on the PGA West's Jack Nicklaus Private Course, is seeking his second career win.
Sharing second at 20-under 196 were Charley Hoffman (66), who played at PGA West's Arnold Palmer Private Course, and Brendon Todd (68), who logged his third round at La Quinta Country Club.
All the competitors will play Sunday's final round at the Arnold Palmer course.
Claiming sole possession of fourth at minus-19 was James Driscoll (66).
Bill Haas (67) and Justin Leonard (65) shared fifth one shot further back.
