NHL: Chicago 4, Anaheim 2

CHICAGO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored twice Friday and Chicago fought off a comeback bid to defeat Anaheim 4-2 in a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference.

The Ducks came up short in their bid to become the first team in NHL history to win 19 times in a span of 20 games. Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller also had his club-record winning streak end at 14. Hiller wound up tied with Tom Barrasso for the second-most consecutive wins in one season.

Chicago built a 3-0 lead on first-period goals by Hossa and Kris Versteeg and a third-period score by Bryan Bickell.

Anaheim then made a game of it with Ryan Getzlaf and Kyle Palmieri scoring in a span of 53 seconds. Hossa, however, clinched the game with an empty-net goal.

Corey Crawford picked up his first victory since Nov. 29 by making 19 saves.
