Stalking, battery charges against Jennifer Capriati dropped

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Stalking charges will be dismissed against former tennis star Jennifer Capriati following anger-management counseling, Florida prosecutors said Monday.

Records released by the Palm Beach County State's Attorney show Capriati performed 30 hours of community service this month at Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute in Tampa, the (South Florida) Sun Sentinel reported. She also spent a few hours in counseling.

Capriati, 37, who lives on Singer Island near Palm Beach, allegedly sent her ex-boyfriend hundreds of text messages. She was arrested and charged with stalking and battery in February 2013 after she allegedly screamed at him and struck him in the chest at a health club where he was working out.

After her arrest, Capriati accused Ivan Brannan of fabricating the charges and called them "absurd."

"I'm outraged by the media, by my ex, the false accusations, not being able to say the truth, Lyme disease, my injuries," she said in a tweet in March.
