NHL: Boston 1, San Jose 0

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Tuukka Rask logged his fifth shutout of the season Saturday and the Boston Bruins handed San Jose a rare regulation home loss, edging the Sharks 1-0.

Rask stopped all 26 shots he faced, including eight in the third period as the Atlantic Division-leading Bruins completed a three-game California road trip with a 1-2-0 mark.

Carl Soderberg broke a scoreless tie with 7:35 remaining in the third, firing the bouncing rebound of a Loui Eriksson shot past Antti Niemi.

Niemi finished with 21 saves for San Jose, which lost in regulation for only the second time in 21 homes games.
