SUNRISE, Fla., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Tomas Kopecky beat Marek Mazanec in the sixth round of a shootout Saturday, boosting the Florida Panthers over Nashville 5-4.
With the shootout tied after five rounds, Tim Thomas turned aside Gabriel Bourque and Kopecky followed by firing a shot off the far post that went past Mazanec for the game-winner.

Kopecky also scored in regulation and Thomas stopped 38-of-42 shots for Florida, which completed a 2-2-1 homestand.
Brad Boyes and Marcel Goc each supplied a goal and an assist.
Mike Fisher, Craig Smith, Paul Gaustad and Seth Jones scored for the Predators.
Mazanec logged 25 saves.
