Vikings linebacker Henderson arrested again for drunken driving

CHANHASSEN, Minn., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings linebacker Erin Henderson has been arrested for alleged drunken driving for the second time in just over a month, officials said.

Henderson was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Chanhassen, Minn., and charged with second-degree drunken driving, as well as drug charges for a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia police allegedly found in his vehicle, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

Police received a report about a sports utility vehicle speeding and "driving all over the road" on Highway 101 at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, police received a second report of a single-vehicle crash in a parking lot.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they determined Henderson was speeding on the highway when he lost control and skidded over the center line, through a patch of grass and into the parking lot, coming to rest when his vehicle hit several trees.

Police said Henderson's breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were bloodshot and he had poor balance. He was arrested after he failed a standard field sobriety test.

The linebacker posted $12,000 bail and was released Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 3.

Henderson was also arrested in November in Eden Prairie for alleged drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance. Police did not say what the controlled substance was.

At the time of his arrest, Henderson's blood alcohol level was at .11 percent, above the legal threshold of 0.08 percent.

Following the November incident, Henderson's license was suspended for 90 days.

The Vikings released a statement saying, "We are aware of the matter involving Erin Henderson. We are continuing to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time."
