NHL: Tampa Bay 2, Calgary 0

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Ben Bishop recorded his fourth shutout of the season while making 19 saves Friday, carrying Tampa Bay to a 2-0 win over Calgary.

Bishop has been in the NHL for five seasons and this was his seventh career shutout in 76 games.

The Lightning won their second straight and climbed within two points of Boston for the lead in the Atlantic Division. It was also the fourth win in Tampa Bay's last five trips to Calgary.

Both of the Tampa Bay goals came in the second period. Ondrej Palat scored 5:23 into the period and Nikita Kucherov deflected a shot past Karri Ramo with 9:40 remaining.

Ramo made 27 saves. It was Calgary's fourth consecutive loss and their eighth in nine games. The Flames have been shut out in three of their last four contests and their 96 goals this season are the fewest in the Western Conference.
