NBA: Utah 96, Milwaukee 87

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Gordon Hayward led the way with 22 points Thursday and Utah, helped along by a perfect night at the foul line, defeated Milwaukee 96-87.

The Jazz won for the third time in four games, taking control in the second period and holding on after owning a 13-point lead heading into the fourth period.

Utah hit all 17 of its free throw attempts and also came up with 21 points and 11 rebounds from Derrick Favors.

The recent run of success for the Jazz has come after they had won just eight times in their first 28 games.

Larry Sanders scored 16 points to pace Milwaukee, which has lost nine times in 11 contests.
