Russia's prime minister says Sochi will be ready for Olympics

MOSCOW, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says Sochi will be ready for the Winter Olympics but he isn't guarantee smooth sailing.

Medvedev told reporters Friday he was "not sure" the games would take place without any hitches, but was overall confident they would be a success.

"To tell you the truth, I'm not sure that everything will be ideal and smooth," Medvedev said. "I don't think we'll have the worst variant. I have a certain enthusiasm and I don't have any concerns about the Olympics."

The final touches were being put on the facilities in Sochi, where the Winter Olympics open Feb. 7. Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said this week there were still some delays in the construction of the accommodations in the resort city, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency said.
