NHL: Dallas 4, Vancouver 1

DALLAS, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Jamie Benn and Cotton Sceviour scored 15 seconds apart in the opening period Thursday, starting Dallas on its way to a 4-1 win over Vancouver.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 27-of-28 shots to help bring the Stars their third win in four games.

Benn reached 10 goals for the season by scoring 4:34 into the game. Sceviour soon followed, after which Dallas picked up a second-period goal from Erik Cole and a third-period score from Valeri Nichushkin.

After giving up four goals on 19 shots, Roberto Luongo was replaced in the third period by rookie Eddie Lack, who appeared in his ninth NHL game. Lack stopped seven shots.

The lone Vancouver goal came from Chris Higgins in the first period.
