DETROIT, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby had two goals Saturday in Pittsburgh's 4-1 win over Detroit Saturday but the Penguins lost high-scoring center Evgeni Malkin to an injury.
Crosby notched his 17th and 18th goals of the season and Malkin added a goal and two assists before suffering what appeared to a leg injury in a violent collision with the end boards in the third period.
On the play, Malkin got tangled up with Luke Glendening while trying to stop a scoring attempt and lost his balance, slamming skates-first into the end boards.
He wasn't able to put any pressure on his leg while being helped off the ice. Penguins Coach Dan Bylsma said Malkin would be tested Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.
Olli Maatta also scored and Jeff Zatkoff stopped 28 shots for Pittsburgh, which recorded a third straight win.
Niklas Kronwall scored and Jonas Gustavsson made 21 saves for the Red Wings, who dropped a fourth straight.
