Harris English, Matt Kuchar forge into Franklin Templeton lead

NAPLES, Fla., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Harris English and Matt Kuchar teamed up to fire a 12-under 60 Saturday, charging into the lead of the Franklin Templeton Shootout after two rounds.

The duo, who came into the day tied for the top spot, excelled during the second round's better-ball format, ending with a four-shot lead at at 20-under-par 124 through 36 holes.

They entered Sunday's third and final round with a healthy lead over the team of Freddie Jacobson and Retief Goosen (61) at minus-16.

Sharing third place at 13-under were Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood (61) and the duo of Charles Howell III and Justin Leonard (67).

Defending champs Kenny Perry and Sean O'Hair, who had a share of the lead after 18 holes, tumbled to a 69. The were knotted with Rory Sabbatini and Scott Verplank (64) for sixth at 11-under.
