NHL: Pittsburgh 3, New Jersey 2

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Pascal Dupuis scored just 41 seconds into the game Friday to touch off Pittsburgh's three-goal first period en route to a 3-2 win over New Jersey.

The Penguins were blanked over the final 45 minutes, but Marc-Andre Fleury made the early lead stand up by turning aside 37 shots. It was Pittsburgh's seventh win in eight games.

Chris Conner and Jayson Megna added Pittsburgh goals in the first period against Cory Schneider.

New Jersey came up with goals from Patrik Elias and Dainius Zubrus in the second period, but eventually fell for the fifth time in six outings.

Schneider stopped 20-of-23 shots in the loss.
